About Us:

teachersOur staff are TESOL Certified (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), with decades of experience in teaching and community building in the Maple Ridge and surrounding areas. We have watched the area grow from a rural community to a pleasant suburban haven that a growing number of immigrants now call home. We have played a long-term role in welcoming new families and individuals to our community.

Along with welcoming newcomers to the area, Dreamcatcher ESL’s staff also represents the indigenous inhabitants of Canada. Dreamcatcher ESL’s founder, Dale Hunter, traces her ancestors back to First Nations tribes in eastern Canada, and she infuses Dreamcatcher ESL’s programs with the history and traditions of Canada’s native peoples. Dreamcatcher ESL’s Conversation Circle programs reflect these native traditions. Conversation Circles have had and continue to have various names: elder’s council, leadership circle, roundtable – but their purpose is always the same – to create equality and connection between people and to encourage curiosity, exploration and sharing at a group level and in a supportive environment.
